The accompanying chart shows the moon as it might
be seen through a low-power telescope. The majority of the various features mapped
at this magnifacation can be seen also with a pair of good.
High power field glasses .
Most "creaters" and mountain on the moon have the names (often latinized)
of famous astronomers and other scientist.
The dry "seas" have fanciul latin names .
Though the chart shows the full moon ,
studying it as suggested on p.148 is most satisfactory
